Here's the thing about boots. They're beautiful and shiny when you first get them. However over time they can become scuffed, covered in dust, dirt, and mud.

With use and exposure to the elements they develop a patina and they may lose their shine, sometimes to the point where they are unrecognizable from their once magnificent origin.

It's the same with people and life.
